How to treat vitiligo?

 Hi,    Vitiligo is caused by lack of pigment called melanin in skin. In vitiligo, there are not enough working melanocytes to produce enough melanin in your skin. Vitiligo may result from autoimmune conditions like hyperthyroidism, addison's disease, diabetes mellitus, melanoma, non hodgkin's lymphoma, genetic factors etc. Treatment depends on causes.

You should undergo some investigations like CBC, thyroid function tests, RBS, S. Cortisol, ACTH, biopsy from the affected skin area etc to find out the underlying causes that are responsible for your vitiligo and then treat them accordingly. In the meantime, you can use steroid cream on your affected skin to restore some pigment, sunscreen to avoid sunburn, Tacrolimus topical ointment like Remus cream or ointment on your affected skin.
