What causes itching sensation and white discharge from vagina?

 Hi,    Vaginal discharge is common in every women's life. But their colour, consistency, odour etc may indicate an underlying condition that can need proper treatment. Whitish vaginal discharge which has a cottage cheese like consistency with itching and usually odourless may indicate a sign of yeast infection. Antifungal medication like Flugal or Omastin is the treatment of choice here.

But, vaginal discharge which can be white, gray, yellow or green with usually an unpleasant odour with itching may indicate trichomoniasis caused by protozoan organism known as Trichomonas vaginalis. The infection is usually spread by sexual contact, but it can be spreaded by sharing towels or bathing suits. Metronidazole like Amodis or Filmet etc or Tinidazole is the treatment of choice here.
